Distinctive Pedagogical Characteristics
■ Integrating Theoretical Concepts with Industrial Application
Our goal is to enhance students' employability, cultivating their ability to harness information
technology, quantitative analysis, and emphasizing teamwork and industrial skills. Through small
group discussions, case-based learning with software applications, and mentorship in project
work, we create a learning environment that fosters collaborative work among students and
bidirectional communication between students and instructors. Students also have the opportunity
to participate in the e-commerge program as part of our Teaching Excellence
Initiative.
■ Emphasized on International Perspective and Industry Experience
In terms of promoting an international perspective, our department has established dual-degree
programs with the Australian Maritime College (AMC). Graduate students have the opportunity to
apply for master's degree programs at the Australian Maritime College. Through the mechanism of
mutual credit recognition and thesis writing, students can obtain master's degrees from both
schools in just two and a half years. We have also signed a cooperative agreement with Thammasat
University in Thailand, allowing students to engage in exchange program at their university.
Students can also pursue their Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the College of
Management at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, USA.
We invite numerous domestic and international scholars and industry experts to deliver lectures
each semester. Additionally, we host academic seminars and industry forums annually. In 2008,
the Chinese Institute of Transportation held its annual conference at our university,
co-organizing the 2008 Transport Annual Meeting with our department, bringing together experts
and scholars from multiple countries to provide valuable perspectives to our students. In 2009,
in collaboration with the Chinese Institute of Logistics, we organized our annual conference,
providing students with opportunities to present their research topics to over 200 logistics
company executives, allowing them to understand industry needs at an early stage. Furthermore,
our department has appointed several industry executives as adjunct faculty members to impart
industrial experience and the correct workplace concepts. Our specialized courses often include
industry visits and field trips, enabling students to learn and validate their knowledge through
industrial experiences.
■ Professional Certifications
In order to enhance students' employability, our department collaborates with the Chinese
Institute of Logistics to offer training courses, enabling students to qualify for the
international professional logistics certification CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and
Transport) awarded by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the United Kingdom
(CILT-UK). We also collaborate with the Taiwan Global Logistics Development Association to
provide training courses that equip students with the qualifications to obtain the international
logistics professional certification SOLE-CPL (Certified Professional Logistician) awarded by
the Society of Logistics Engineers in the United States (SOLE).
Additionally, our department possesses Enterprise Resource Planning (Workflow ERP) and Business
Intelligence Systems (V-Point). Students have the opportunity to operate these related systems
and can pursue professional certifications in ERP or Business Intelligence from the Chinese
Enterprise Resource Planning Association.
■ Exciting Extracurricular and Intercollegiate Activities
In addition to the activities organized by the school and various clubs, the department's
student association holds annual events, including orientation camps, singing competition
co-hosted with other departments, logistics-themed week with Integrated Project Presentations,
